outlet cover makeover

Busy much? Well, I know that we three birdies are keeping super busy. Sometimes we need to focus on craft projects that can be finished quickly. Our simple outlet cover makeover is exactly that.

While necessary and very practical for keeping little fingers and objects out of outlets, these covers are lacking in the beauty department. Here's a quick tip to turn those plain covers into cute pieces that will be both functional and match your room's decor.

    Outlet Covers Tutorial

    Supplies:
*E600--You don't want to do this with anything less than industrial strength craft glue
    *Plastic outlet covers
*Cute painted wood shapes -you can find these at Joann, Michaels and Walmart for around 50 cents

    1. Simply glue the outlet cover to the back of the wood shape. Follow the glue's directions and wait the appropriate time before using them.

    2. Insert into your outlet.

These are so fun to have in holiday themes, too, like a painted wood jack-o-lantern or a snowman. If you're not into the cutesy painted wood pieces, find other objects that match your room's decor. How about a seashell or a fabric flower?

We do want to mention that for really tiny kids, these can actually make the outlet cover a little easier to remove. So please use your best judgment if you have small children who are still fascinated with wall outlets. We cover them up for a reason!
